FishCare in the community

 

Exhibiting and attending events are essential activities for raising awareness of the FishCare programme. These crucial channels help us teach fishers about how they can reduce their impact on the marine environment.

Since 2017, we have communicated with more than 45,000 people at regional events around the upper North Island.

More than 680,000 New Zealanders fish each year and everyone has a part to play in leaving behind a positive footprint.

We have attended a wide range of events from industry shows (Auckland On water Boat Show) to fishing competitions, cultural events (Ngapuhi Festival) to public shows (Fieldays) and engaged with all kinds of kiwis who love to fish.

The FishCare programme is exhibited at numerous shows and community events throughout the year, with the goal of raising awareness and helping fishers understand how they can make a difference to their local fishery and the marine environment.

 

Communities are the perfect place to engage with the local fishers and discuss what matters to them, right on their own back doorstep. Fishing competitions, boat shows, environmentally friendly focused events and multicultural events have all been the site of FishCare efforts to help educate and connect with the NZ public and help them adopt best practice for the betterment of our fishery.

Come down and say hi at an event near you – we’re a friendly bunch and are known to hand out yummy chocolate fish too.

 

Dates

*3rd-6th October 2019 On Water Boat Show, Viaduct, Auckland.

At New Zealand’s largest on-water boat show, showcasing a comprehensive representation of the marine market, FishCare will be exhibiting to teach fishers how they can reduce their impact on the marine environment. Thanks to NZ Marine, we have an opportunity to engage with fishers and have a timely discussion around spring fishing themes such as harvesting scallops and fishing for spawning snapper.
